Installation:


Die Installation eines solchen DMX-Netzsystems gestaltet sich sehr simpel: Einfach mit Hilfe eines Netzanschlußgerätes oder eines der XTBA SMART SPLITTER die DMX-Daten der Lichtsteuerung in das DMX-Netz einspeisen. An allen gewünschten Stellen können nun DMX-Outputmodule an die Leitung angeschlossen werden. Jedes Modul ist unabhängig von anderen Modulen. Durch den Einsatz eines SMART SPLITTER´s ist es möglich, mehrere unabhängig voneinander arbeitende DMX-Netze (sog. "Branch") zu definieren. Durch die Installation der unterschiedlichen Module
- diese sind auf ihren Aufgabenbereich spezialisiert - an den vom Betreiber gewünschten Einsatzorten in dem Veranstaltungsbereich können alle praktischen Anforderungen erfüllt werden. Damit steht bei sehr geringen Installationskosten ein preisgünstiges und übersichtliches DMX-Datenverteilungssystem zur Verfügung.

Schon 1993 hat XTBA das Konzept des DMX-Signalverteilungssytem mit den dazu passenden Modulen vorgestellt. Seitdem wurden mit diesem System große und kleine Installationen erstellt. Unter anderem in den Londoner BBC TV-Studio´s, in der Royal Shakespeare Company, im Parlamentarischen Gebäude der Europäischen Union in Brüssel, im RTV Slovenia, der EXPO Lissabon 1998 und mehr als 10 große Kreuzfahrtschiffe wurden mit diesem System ausgerüstet.
Auch in Deutschland haben einige Theater und Ausstellungshallen dieses System schon äußerst erfolgreich eingesetzt, so zum Beispiel die Messe München und die Stadthalle Landau.
Der Vorteil des DMX-Signalverteilungssystem´s liegt darin, daß keinerlei zusätzlichen Geräte wie Splitter oder Patchbays mehr gebraucht werden. Der Anschluß der Module erfolgt im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Installationen in Form eines Ringes.Das heißt: Alle Module werden einfach hintereinander an den DMX-Datenstrom angeschlossen, ohne das die Spezifikationen des DMX-Signals davon berührt werden.

Um alle die an das DMX-Netzsystem angeschlossene Module mit Spannung zu versorgen bietet XTBA ein spezielles Netzanschlußgerät für die Spannungsversorgung an. XTBA bietet auch die Möglichkeit an, alle eigenen Splitter und Protokollkonverter auf diese Spannungsversorgung umzurüsten.

Since XTBA launched the concept of multi-point DMX 512 Distribution and the range of XTBA DMX Distribution Modules in the Spring of 1993, extensive XTBA DMX Distribution Systems have been installed at the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Barbican in London, in BBC Pebble Mill Birmingham, BBC Television Centre Studios 4, 6 and 8, RTE Dublin, RTV Slovinia, the Parliament Building of the European Union in Brussels, Expo Lisbon '98, at least 10 super luxury cruise liners, Mr. Michael Mouse's French Theme Park, and numerous others. They have proved to be the simple, reliable, and inexpensive method of connecting multiple DMX outlets and inlets together to form an integrated DMX data distribution system.

No longer do multiple outlet systems require splitters and patch bays with all the complications of distribution wiring: The XTBA Distribution Modules act just like a ring main. Installation is easy, and expansion is simply a matter of adding additional Distribution Modules, with little extra time or cost.

XTBA Distribution Modules are remarkably adaptable, allowing a huge range of configurations which will suit from the simplist to even the most complex installation. XTBAs range of Splitters, Merges and Protocol Converters will all run in conjunction with the Network, giving greater flexibility to your DMX system.

Although we recommend that an XTBA Distribution Module Power Supply Unit is used to power the system, our Splitters and Protocol Converters can all be modified to incorporate the power supply.

Specification and installation of an XTBA Distribution System is very simple:
From the lighting control the DMX 512 data should be fed via a Splitter or an XTBA Power Supply to the cable feeding the Distribution system. The cable can then be installed and Distribution Modules simply "cut in" anywhere along its length. By using the Distribution Splitter, multiple branches can be installed, allowing DMX access to any point in the venue. Branches are kept separated from each other, and every output module is separate from the branch.

In addition to DMX512 data, each Distribution Module (Input or Output) requires +8 to +15V DC to provide power for the local circuitry. This can be supplied via a an XTBA Distribution Module Power Supply Unit for a single branch system, or via an XTBA Smart Splitter for a multiple branch system.

Each branch can have a maximum of 32 XTBA Distribution Output Modules (the protocol's limit) and a cable length of up to 1,000 metres.

In Übereinstimmung mit dem DMX512-Standard benötigt jedes Outputmodul eine Spannungsversorgung von +8V und +15V DC. Diese Spannung liefert entweder das
XTBA-Netzanschlußgerät oder ein SMART SPLITTER. Beim Einsatz eines SMART SPLITTER´s ist zu beachten, daß nicht mehr als 32 Module entsprechend des DMX512-Standard´s an eine Linie angeschlossen werden dürfen. Die maximale Leitungslänge darf 1.000 Meter betragen.


Einfache Outputmodule

Alle Outputmodule sind auf der Datenseite komplett optisch isoliert und mit einem separat isolierten Spannungsanschluß ausgerüstet. Zwei LED´s geben Auskunft über die Spannungsversorgung und ob im Augenblick DMX-Daten anliegen.

Weiterhin sind folgende Schutzmaßnahmen in allen Modulen integriert:
- Überspannungsschutz auf der Datenseite
- Statischer Aufladungsschutz auf der Datenseite
- Anstiegszeitgesteuerte Ausgänge
- Kurzschlußschutz

Alle Outputmodule lassen sich mit einem "Mini"-Splitter vergleichen, der sehr einfach und kostengünstig an dem Ort installiert wird, an dem er benötigt wird.
Sowohl die Eingangs- als auch die optisch isolierten Ausgangsmodule sind Datengepuffert und Kurzschlußfest. Kommt es zum Kurzschluß auf der angeschlossenen Datenleitung, schaltet das Modul die angeschlossene Datenleitung bis zur Entfernung des Kurzschlusses aus. Dadurch wird vermieden, daß die "Versorgungs"-Datenleitung in Mitleidenschaft gezogen werden kann. Da jedes Outputmodul das DMX-Signal neu generiert, können nach den DMX-Spezifikationen an jedes dieser Module bis zu 32 weitere Geräte angeschlossen werden. Durch die Benutzung der Outputmodule werden auch keinerlei LOOP-Kabel oder Terminatoren mehr benötigt.

XTBA Distribution Output Modules are the backbone of any DMX512 installation. They act as a one way DMX512 optically isolated splitter, and split off any DMX source or Distribution Branch.

Both the module input and the optical isolated output are buffered and short circuit protected: This means that should the DMX output be overloaded, the Distribution Module will prevent the main line from being pulled down, allowing the rest of the Distribution to work correctly. Once the overload is removed, the module will continue to work normally. As each Output Module is a new source of DMX, the Distribution Output Module will allow up to 32 receivers from each module, and will reshape DMX should the system involve long cable runs. The use of Distribution Modules removes the need for loop through links or return cables.

Die neuen Outputmodule LM bieten die bekannte Funktionalität der einfachen Module. Darüber hinaus bieten sie durch zusätzliche LED-Anzeigen dem Benutzer genauere Angaben zum augenblicklichen Zustand des DMX-Signals an diesem Modul.Insgesamt geben fünf unterschiedliche LED´s Auskunft:

Grün - DMX-Daten liegen an
Gelb - Ein Leitungsfehler liegt vor
Grün - Betriebsspannung liegt an
Rot - Überspannung (LED blinkt)
Grün - Datenterminierung ist korrekt

Alle diese LED´s können vom Lichtstellpult Ein- und Ausgeschaltet werden. Dafür ist es nur notwendig, folgende Stimmung zu senden: Kreis 510 für 15 sek. auf den Wert VOLL, alle anderen AUS.
Diese Funktion kann durch den Einsatz eines Jumpers auf der Platine deaktiviert werden, wenn diese Module in Sichtrichtung des Publikums installiert sind.

The Distribution Output Module LM adds line condition monitoring to the Distribution Output Module. The overall unit size remains unchanged.

Three additional monitoring leds display the state of the DMX line, with or without data, and indicate whether the output line is terminated correctly (green), there is a line error (yellow) or an overloaded (flashing red). Additionally, the data led detects valid DMX data and will not light if the data is corrupt or not DMX.

All the displays, including the power led, can be turned off and on from the lighting console by sending channel 510 to full - all others off for 15 seconds. This function can be over-ridden via an on board jumper link, allowing those Network Module displays in view of an audience to be turned off during performances.

Durch den Einsatz von Inputmodulen ist eine sehr flexible Installation des DMX-Netzes möglich. Damit lassen sich zum Beispiel Fernbedienstationen auf der Bühne realisieren.

Der DMX-Standard bestimmt, das nicht mehr als ein DMX-Sender zur gleichen Zeit aktiv sein darf. Dem wird das Inputmodul unter anderem durch die Verwendung von LED´s gerecht. Leuchtet die Rote LED so ist das Modul bereit und kein anderer Sender arbeitet zur Zeit auf dieser Leitung. Sollte ein anderer DMX-Sender auf dieser Leitung aktiv sein, so blinkt die LED und teilt so dem Benutzer mit, daß eine gesicherte Datenübertragung zur Zeit nicht möglich ist.
Inputmodule gibt es in zwei unterschiedlichen Ausführungen:

Das Standard Modul

Dieses Modul vergibt abhängig von der Position des Inputmoduls auf der DMX-Linie eine Priorität des DMX-Signals. Der Signaleingang kann über die Einstellungen so konfiguriert werden, daß entweder eine neue Position für das Master-DMX-Signal (Fernbedienpult auf der Bühne) generiert wird, oder alle anderen Eingangssignale werden unterdrückt.

Das Input-FTP-Modul

Dieses Modul schaltet automatisch alle vorhandenen DMX-Übertragungen vor der Modulposition ab und erlaubt nur noch die eigene DMX-Signalübertragung (LTP = Lates Takes Presidence, Letzter Wert hat Vorrang).

Standard- und FTP-Inputmodule können in einer Installation gemischt eingesetzt werden.

XTBA Distribution Input Modules allow multiple DMX control Inputs, for example for use in stalls or remote positions on stage. The Network Input Modules system logic prevents more than one input being active at a time, removing the possibility of data clashes. Once XTBA Distribution Input Modules are installed, your system becomes much more flexible, giving you remote access to the Lighting Control Distribution via a hand held transmitter, and allowing the control system to be moved to a more convenient location during plotting.

The Input Modules display shows if the module is available (led red) not available (led off) e.g. other transmitters are on line. Once the module is receiving a valid input, the led will light green.

Distribution Input Modules are available in two types:

* The Standard Module will prioritise the inputs, dependant on their position on the line. The inputs can be set up to default to the desk master override control on the inputs, locking out all other inputs if transmitting.

* The Input FTP Module will switch the line to the first transmitted unit and lock out all other modules. Once the active module is free, the Input Network is available again, indicating this by lighting the red led.

Standard and FTP modules can be mixed in installation to provide maximum flexibility.
